About

The Madison County Association of the Blind was established in 1955, and has been helping the blind and visually impaired citizens of Madison County. Every year since then, we have worked diligently with the newly blinded, their spouses, and family members as peer counselors to assist them in adapting to their blindness. We can help because we understand. We are affiliated with the Illinois council of the blind.

We provide a number of activities for the visually impaired, such as bowling, social activities, and picnics. We also do other activities, such as going to the Muny, going to the Alton Little Theater, and even some Saint. Louis Cardinals baseball games. We hopefully can enjoy many more years of continues service.

We invite you to attend our meetings and bring along someone struggling with low vision or impending blindness. We meet on the 1st Thursday of each month, our meeting time, and place vary from time to time. For more information, please click on our contact page.

We contribute to the Mary Bryant Home, a residential home for blind residents of Illinois. The Home is located in Springfield, IL. We purchase a subscription to the Illinois Braille Messenger for our members. The Messenger, which is a newsletter published quarterly, is about and for the blind of the state of Illinois. It is available by tape or an email.

Through your generous support, we have been able to provide these services to our members.

We are also trying to establish a $500.00 scholarship fund.
We again are appealing to you for your support by contributing to our organization. Any amount you can afford, is 1$ to$500 adequate?
As a nonprofit organization, your contribution is tax deductible.

Your contribution is greatly appreciated. Make checks payable to: Madison County Association of the Blind, or (the MCAB).
